Yamanaka lacquerware is the fourth generation of lacquerware in Japan.
These chopsticks are hand-carved with the same Maki-e technique that gives them a simple, warm feel.
This pair of chopsticks comes in a set with a hemp leaf pattern.
In the past, it was customary in Japan to dress a baby in a maternity suit with a hemp leaf pattern, hoping that the baby would grow up healthy.
It also has the meaning of warding off evil spirits, making it an ideal gift.
The accents of vermilion and black lacquer elegantly decorate the dining table.
